Cross Country Competes at ECC Championships
Mercy College competed at the East Coast Conference Cross Country Championships on Sunday, November 7. Neither team scored points, but several student-athletes performed valiantly. The race was held in Brookville, N.Y. St. Thomas Aquinas won the women’s title, while C.W. Post claimed the men’s.
For the women, Rachel Poccia completed the 5k course in 25:23.92, finishing in 50th place. She was followed by Natalie Wabshinak (57th, 27:56.01), Maria Nardulli (59th, 28:02.84), and Ashley Johnstone (62nd, 29:01.71).
The men ran a 5 mile event, with Marvin Mandat leading the way with a 64th place finish, with a time of 37:27.56. Behind him were Caleb Jean (67th, 42:14.37), Terrence Murchie (68th, 1:00:05.00), and Manny Garcia (69th, 1:00:05.10).
