Paul Rupprecht Appointed Head Cross Country and Track and Field

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College Director of Athletics Pat Kennedy announced the appointment of Paul Rupprecht as the next head coach of the men's and women's cross country and track and field teams. Rupprecht replaces long time coach Dr. Darryl Bullock who recently announced his retirement.
Rupprecht is a Yonkers native and a 2001 Archbishop Stepinac High School graduate where he was captain of the track team. He ran the mile and the pentathlon, winning the CHSAA in the pentathlon. He was also named All-County in the mile and pentathlon, and finished seventh in the New York State pentathlon.
Rupprecht earned a scholarship to attend the University of Maine, a NCAA Division I program. He was a four-time America East Scholar-Athlete, earned a Presidential Academic Achievement Award in 2006, and was also a Scholar Athlete Gold Medal winner. Rupprecht helped the Bears to an America East Cross Country team championship in 2004. He earned All-New England honors in the 1500-meters in 2003 and 2006, and placed second and third in the 1000-meters at the New England Championships in 2003 and 2004, respectively.
Rupprecht received a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education from the University of Maine in 2006. He then served as the Head Track and Field Coach at Brewer Middle School in Brewer, Maine for the 2007 season while he pursued his master's degree in Exercise Science, which he completed in 2009.
Rupprecht has held teaching positions at Bangor High School, Veazie Community School, and the Orono and Brewer School departments. He has also served as a teaching assistant at the University of Maine.
