Mercy Track Competes at Army

The Mercy College outdoor track season began today at the Dick Shea Open, held at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.

Leading the way for Mercy was freshman Eliezer Riquelme (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy), who finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.2 meters. He also finished sixth in the 110-meter high hurdles in a time of 16.43.

Freshman Corey Alvarado (Shokan, N.Y./Onteora) placed 28^th in the 1500 meters, with a time of 4:47.

The track team will run again on Sunday, April 18, at the New York Relays at Randall’s Island.
