Mercy Names O'Connor, Reyes Track and Field Coaches
Mercy College has hired of Sean O’Connor as the head coach of the men’s and women’s outdoor track and field programs, as announced by Director of Athletics Pat Kennedy. O’Connor begins his duties immediately. Additionally, Jamsel Reyes has been appointed a student-assistant coach.
A Queens, N.Y., native, O’Connor also serves as the head men’s basketball coach for the Mavericks.
“Sean is such a masterful recruiter,” stated Director of Athletics Pat Kennedy. “He is the right person at the right time to help us rebuild our track and field programs.”
O’Connor ran track at Monsignor Scanlan High School in the Bronx, before moving on to St. John’s University. He then earned his bachelor's of science degree in Biology, and in 1998, he received a master's of public administration from Marist College.
Reyes has been a member of the cross country and track and field teams at Mercy since his arrival in Dobbs Ferry. Now a senior, he will assist with the recruiting process. A graduate of North Rockland (NY.) High School, he attended Alfred (N.Y.) State prior to serving in the U.S. Navy.
