Mercy Track & Field Competes At Fordham To Open Dual-Meet Weekend
Mavericks will compete at Fordham and Manhattan Friday through Sunday.
BRONX, N.Y. – The Mercy College men’s and women’s track & field team returned to the Lombardi Center Fieldhouse on Friday, Dec. 11 to compete at the Fordham Christmas Classic.
Sophomore Abigail Dillon (Bronx, N.Y./Upper Perkiomen) finished second in her heat in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.3 seconds. Also competing in the event for the Mavericks was Stephanie DiLegge (West Islip, N.Y./Bay Shore), Melissa Hurley (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) Kerry Goodnight (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport Blue Point), Brittany Ott (Copiague, N.Y./Copiague) and Jamie McPartlandt (N. Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale).
For the men, Eliezes Riquelme finished 11th overall and fourth in his heat in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.3 seconds. Jamil Jefferson (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) and Piotr Kurzyna (Riverhead, N.Y./Riverhead) also competed.
Riquelme also finished 12th in the 200-meter dash, crossing the tape at 24.1 seconds.
Jamsel Reyes (Haverstraw, N.Y./Alfred State) finished fifth in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:10.7.
In field events, T.J. DiCarlo (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) finished sixth for the Mavericks in the long jump with a distance of 5.57 meters (18 feet, 3.25 inches). Tyrik Overton (Tarrytown, N.Y./Irvington) finished just .02 meters behind DiCarlo with a jump of 5.55 meters (18 feet, 2.5 inches).
The Mavericks will compete for a second time this weekend as they travel to Riverdale, N.Y., to compete at Manhattan College’s Brother Jasper Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
