Mercy College Track and Field Competes at Yale Springtime

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Mercy College track
and field program competed at the Yale Springtime Invitational on
Sunday. The event featured competitors from several top
Division I programs, including Yale, Manhattan, Army, Hofstra and
Iona.
Senior Dave Hunte (Labrea, Trinidad and Tobago) and junior Jamsel Reyes (Monroe, NY) highlighted the day for the Mavericks. Hunte recorded a second place finish out of 11 entrants in the men's triple jump as he posted a mark of 13.83 meters. Reyes put up a time of 2:00.03 in the men's 800 meter run, the program's second best mark all-time, as he placed 30th out of 70 finishers.
Senior John Benvin (Thornwood, NY) was the Mavericks' first finisher in the 1500 meter run, posting a time of 4:44.53. Senior Jose Gomez (Monroe, NY) was right behind him at 4:57.6.
Senior Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY) was Mercy's lone female competitor at the event. She registered a time of 2:37.44 to finish 42nd in the 800 meter run.
The Mercy College track and field program will return to action on May 9 at the New York City Challenge, held at Icahn Stadium.
