Overton and Wong Collect Top Tens at CTC Outdoor

POMONA, NJ- Juniors Tyrik Overton (Tarrytown, NY) and Janet Wong (Vancouver, Canada) highlighted the Mercy College track and field team's day at the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Championships, hosted by Richard Stockton College on Sunday. The men's squad finished tied for 13th place and the women finished 16th.
Wong posted a seventh place finish in the women's high jump, registering a mark of 1.50 meters. Senior Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY) also competed for the women, finishing 18th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:40.28.
Overton recorded a seventh place finish in the men's high jump, registering a mark of 1.78 meters. Junior Jamsel Reyes (Monroe, NY) came in 13th place in the 800 meter run at 2:04.28. Junior Craig Williams (Bronx, NY) gave the Mavericks another top 20 finish, placing 17th in the 100 meter dash at 11.89 seconds, and finished 27th in the 200 meter dash at 25.19 seconds.
The Mavericks had three entrants in the men's 1500 meter run with senior John Benvin (Thornwood, NY) leading the way in 33rd place at 4:55.38. Senior Daniel Reeves (Babylon, NY) was next in 34th place at 5:03.62, followed by senior Jose Gomez (Monroe, NY) in 35th at 5:10.48. Senior Kevin Gibson (Buenos Aires, Argentina) placed 38th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.04.
The Mercy College track and field teams will return to action on Sunday, April 26 at the Yale Springtime Invitational.
