Hunte, Wong and Overton Shine Again for Mercy College at New York
Relays
NEW YORK, NY - Junior Janet Wong (Vancouver, Canada) and senior Dave Hunte (LaBrea, Trinidad & Tobago) both posted first place finishes for a second straight week and junior Tyrik Overton (Tarrytown, NY) registered a third place finish for the Mercy College Track & Field team at the New York Relays on Friday.
As a team, the men finished 8th out of 16, while the women tied for 7th in a field of 14 participating colleges.
Hunte captured his top spot in the triple jump with a leap of 13.76 meters on his final attempt. Wong won the women's high jump with a season best mark of 1.50 meters. Overton placed third in the men's high jump, also recording a season best mark of 1.83 meters.

Junior Jamsel Reyes (Monroe, NY) finished 16th in the 800 meter run at 2:02.66 and 20th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.73. Seniors John Benvin (Thornwood, NY) and Dan Reeves (Babylon, NY) placed 33rd and 36th in the 1500 meter run with times of 4:44.61 and 4:52.79, respectively.
On the women's side, senior Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY) placed fifth in the 800 meter run, posting a time of 2:33.77. Wong also finished sixth in the javelin with a mark of 31.99 meters.
The Mavericks will return to action at the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Outdoor Championships on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19.
