WEST POINT, NY - The men's track and field team was in action on Saturday at West Point, competing in the Dick Shea Open Meet. The event featured a number of top Division I teams from the Patriot League, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and Northeast Conference, as well as nationally ranked Division III and Junior College programs.
Senior Dave Hunte (LaBrea, Trinidad and Tobago) finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 13.73 meters, narrowly missing gold by .23m. Junior Jamsel Reyes (Monroe, NY) ran the 1500m in a personal best and number two college ranking time of 4:19.51. He later ran the 400m in 53.79 to finish in 21st place.
Senior John Benvin (Thornwood,NY) ran a personal best of 2:22.19 in the 800m with classmate Jose Gomez (Monroe, NY) right behind him, finishing in 2:23.33. Junior Craig WIlliams (Brooklyn, NY) ran the 100m in 12.04 seconds and the 200m in 24.82.
The Mercy College men and women return to action at the Wagner College Invitational on Saturday, April 4.
