EAST STROUDSBURG, PA - The Mercy College men's and women's track and field teams were back in action on Saturday at the DeSchriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg University. The Mavericks posted four top 15 finishes, including two in the top 10.
Junior Tyrik Overton (Tarrytown, NY) topped the list, finishing eighth in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.75 meters. Junior Jamsel Reyes (Monroe, NY) was next with a ninth place finish in the 1000-meter run, coming in at 2:42.48. Sophomore Joon Hoon Lee (New Haven, CT) gave the Mavericks a 12th place finish in the long jump at 6.14 meters, with Overton placing 24th at 5.57 meters.

In the men's 200-meter dash, junior Craig Williams (Bronx, NY) finished 22nd at 24.84 seconds. Sophomore Joon Yeob Lee (New Haven, CT) ran a time of 7.36 seconds to place 43rd in the 55-meter dash and senior Jose Gomez (Monroe, CT) finished 47th in the mile at 6:04.09. Williams and Joon Hoon Lee placed 39th (56.57) and 40th (57.49) in the 400-meter dash, respectively. Senior Daniel Reeves (Babylon, NY) finished 49th in the 800-meter run at 2:22.64, followed by senior John Benvin (Thornwood, NY) in 54th at 2:25.78, and Gomez in 58th at 2:41.33. The men's 4x400 meter relay team placed 22nd at 3:55.29.
Junior Janet Wong (Vancouver, Canada) turned in Mercy's fourth top-15 by finishing tied for 13th with a mark of 1.39 meters in the women's high jump. Senior Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY) placed 16th in the 800-meter run at 2:42.03 and 20th in the mile at 6:03.77.
The Mavericks return to action on Friday, February 13, at the CTC Indoor Championships.
