MIDDLETOWN, CT -  Senior David Hunte (Labrea, Trinidad and Tobago) and junior Tyrik Overton (Tarrytown, NY) each posted a top five finish to highlight the Mercy College indoor track and field team's trip to the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday.

Hunte notched his fifth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.16 meters. He also placed 22nd in the 55-meter dash at 7.01 seconds with sophomore teammate Joon Yeob Lee (New Haven, CT) coming in 39th at 7.32 seconds.

Overton came in fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.81 meters. He also placed 23rd in the long jump at 5.75 meters.  Joon Yeob Lee finished seven spots ahead of him in 16th place in the long jump at 6.0 meters.

In his first event with the Blue & White, junior Jamsel Reyes (Monroe, NY) posted a 15th place finish in the 600-meter run with a new school record time of 1:29.38.  Joon Hoon Lee (New Haven, CT) gave the Mavericks a time of 59.14 seconds in the 400-meter dash to place 31st and junior Craig Williams (Bronx, NY) finished 39th in the 200-meter dash at 25.16 seconds.

Wrapping up the men's individual events, senior John Benvin (Thornwood, NY) placed 20th in the 800-meter run at 2:25.76, followed by senior Daniel Reeves (Babylon, NY) in 21st at 2:26.57 and senior Kevin Gibson (Buenos Aires, Argentina) in 24th at 2:32.45. Reyes, Reeves, Benvin and sophomore Jonathan Holland (Roanoke, VA) teamed up to place 12th in the men's distance medley with a time of 12:38.40.

Senior Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY) competed for the women in the 800-meter run where she registered a seventh place finish with a time of 2:37.53.

"I was pleased with a number of performances," said Head Coach Dr. Darryl Bullock. "It's a challenge to just practice against each other especially with the hash weather of early winter working against training objectives. We tried some different combinations in relays and field events with success and we are on pace to attain our late season indoor team goals."

The next scheduled competition puts triple jump specialist David Hunte at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on February, while the rest of the team travels to East Stroudsburg University on the same day for the DeSchriver Invitational.
