Mavericks Compete at Brooks Paul Short Cross Country Run
BETHLEHEM, PA - The Mercy College men's and women's cross country programs returned to action on Friday, participating in the Brooks Paul Short Cross Country Run, hosted by Lehigh University. Neither squad competed for a team score in the event which featured some of the top programs in the nation.
Senior Peter Yarema (Northport, NY) paced the Mavericks in the men's 8k race, finishing in a time of 29:14. It was the best men's time for the Mavericks this season, and Yarema's second personal best effort. He was followed by senior Thomas Cannariato (Goshen, NY) at 32:46, junior Kevin Gibson (Buenos Aires, Argentina) at 32:53, and junior Jose Gomez (Monroe, NY) at 34:29.
Junior Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY) led Mercy in the women's 6k race, finishing the course in a time of 26:38. Sophomore Janet Wong (Vancouver, Canada) came in at 32:50.
Mercy will compete again on Friday, October 5, at the College of Saint Rose.
