Mercy College Cross Country Opens at Fordham Invitational
BRONX, NY - The Mercy College cross country teams began the 2007 season at the Fordham Invitational on Saturday, September 8. The men finished 22nd as a team, while the women ran as individuals.
On the men's side, the Mavericks were led by senior Peter Yarema (Northport, NY) who ran a time of 32:25 to place 126th in the team scoring. Senior Daniel Reeves (Babylon, NY) finished in 35:07, followed by junior Kevin Gibson (Buenos Aires, Argentina) at 35:49, senior Thomas Cannariato (Goshen, NY) at 36:31, and junior Jose Gomez (Monroe, NY) at 44:04.
The women were paced by junior Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY), who finished in the 119th scoring position with a time of 23:17. She was followed by junior Jessica Fabian (Whitehall, PA) at 27:30, sophomore Janet Wong (Vancouver, Canada) at 29:58, and junior Susan Paulsen (Goshen, NY) at 31:43.
The Mavericks return to action on September 22, as they head north to the Connecticut College Cross-Country Invitational. This will mark the program's twentieth consecutive year of participation in this major early season classic.
