Mercy College Alumnus Tommy Neeson to Run Over 2,300 Miles for the Ronald McDonald House Run for Compassion

DOBBS FERRY, NY -Mercy College alumnus Tommy Neeson will run over 2,300 miles in a program named Four Million Steps: The Ronald McDonald House Run for Compassion. Neeson will run from Bangor, Maine to Miami, Florida in an effort to raise money.

"Tom was always a fierce competitor and his passion for this cause doesn't surprise me," Neeson's Mercy College cross country head coach Darryl Bullock said.

Neeson will start running on August 28, 2008 and will end his journey 75 days later. He will average over 30 miles of running a day. Along the way he will stop at Ronald McDonald Houses each day to visit and support families that are affected by cancer.

Neeson, who lost a daughter (Randi) to cancer, has supported other causes in the past as well. He raised money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Norfolk, VA in June 2007 by breaking the world record time in the 50k on a treadmill.

He has run 19 marathons with a personal best of 2:35. He has won two marathons with numerous top 10 finishes. Neeson is currently a Housing Coordinator for a company that operates group homes in Virginia Beach, VA.

Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for families with children facing medical challenges and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children, as well as providing grants to nonprofit organizations for programs that enable children to live happier, healthier lives.
