Hunte, Lee, and Klobus Break Records for Mercy Track & Field at CTC Championships
NEW YORK, NY - The Mercy College indoor track and field squads collected several personal bests and school records at the CTC Championships on Sunday.
Junior David Hunte (Kitchener, Ontario) established a new school record in the men's triple jump, finishing second overall with his final attempt, and also established a new men's 55 meter record in a time of 6.99 seconds. Freshman Joon Yeob Lee (New Haven, CT) extended his school long jump mark by four inches to 20 feet, 3 inches, finishing ninth overall. Senior Peter Yarema (Northport, NY) also registered a personal best time of 4:52 in the mile to place 16th.
Junior Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY) lowered the women's mile mark to 5:54.01 and also finished ninth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:40.23. Sophomore Janet Wong (Vancouver, Canada) added a seventh place finish in the women's high jump.
"We are headed in the right direction with nearly everyone making a personal or season best mark at today's meet," head coach Dr. Darryl Bullock. "As a team we had six top ten finishes."
The Mavericks will be back in action on Friday, February 15, when they compete in the Rider Lafayette Games at the New Balance Track and Field Center.
