Katelyn Klobus Breaks School Record for Mercy Track & Field at Yale Lidlifter

            NEW HAVEN, CT -  Sophomore Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY) broke the Mercy College record in the 800m to highlight the indoor track and field team's trip to the Yale Lidlifter on Saturday, December 9.

            Klobus finished the event in 14th place out of 18 competitors, running the race in a time of 2:34.97.  She also competed in the women's mile, placing 12th out of 15 with a time of 5:49, as she ran the event for the first time in competition.  Senior Sharon Sklar (Chappaqua, NY) placed 11th in the women's shot put with a throw of 7.36m.

            On the men's side, senior Shadrac St. Louis (Garnerville, NY) took sixth place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.90m.  Sophomore Jose Gomez (Monroe, NY) ran the mile in a time of 5:00.47, finishing 23rd and sophomore Kevin Gibson (Buenos Aires, Argentina) followed in 26th at 5:06.34.

            In the men's 400m, freshman Nathaniel Rose (Queens, NY) placed 14th with a time of 53.15, and finished the 200m in a time of 24.13. Sophomore Denis Agalliu (Tivana, Albania) placed 25th in the men's 60m with a time of 7.99. Junior Tom Cannariato (Goshen, NY) ran the 800m in a time of 2:20.

            "This was an excellent opportunity to compete at a quality venue against well-regarded regional programs," said head coach Darryl Bullock. "Katelyn Klobus was described by her coach David Wood at St. John the Baptist as a "winner," indeed she is."

            Mercy is off until Saturday, December 30, when the women's team will compete in the Colgate Games beginning at 9:00 a.m.
