Edward Murray and Katelyn Klobus Named Mercy's October
Student-Athletes of the Month

          DOBBS FERRY, NY -  Senior Edward Murray (W. Islip, NY) and sophomore Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY), a pair of cross country standouts from St. John the Baptist High School, have been selected as Mercy College's October Student-Athletes of the Month.

          Murray, a team captain, turned in his best career performances during the month of October. At the College of St. Rose Joust he was the fifth collegiate finisher, leading the team to a second place finish, as he ran the five-mile course in 28:56. The following week, Murray lowered his personal best for five miles to 28:45,during the University at Albany Cross-country Invitational. At the East Coast Conference (ECC) Cross Country Championships, he finished 22nd overall, traversing the famed hills at Van Cortlandt Park in 29:29, leading his team to a fifth place finish.

          Klobus led the women's cross country team in all three events for the second straight month. She finished fourth out of 15 competitors with a new personal best time of 20:41 at the St. Rose College Joust and ran a time of 22:11.7 at the Albany Invitational. Klobus then placed 12th out of 65 competitors at the ECC Championships to earn a spot on the All-ECC Second Team. Klobus ran the 5k race at Van Cortlandt Park in a time of 21:28, becoming only the second female in Mercy cross country history to earn All-Conference honors.
