Edward Murray Leads Mercy Cross Country at NCAA Regionals
BOSTON, MA - Senior Edward Murray (West Islip, NY) finished 51st overall to help the Mercy College men's cross country team to a 17th place finish out of 22 teams at the NCAA Regionals in Boston on Sunday, November 5.
Murray posted the team's best time, completing the 10k course in 34:50. Sophomore Jose Gomez (Monroe, NY) placed 74th in the field of 124 participants, finishing in a time of 35:58. Junior Peter Yarema (Northport, NY) was right on in his heels at 35:58.9, while junior Tom Cannariato (Goshen, NY) finished in 39:27.8, and sophomore Kevin Gibson (Buenos Aires, Argentina) ran a time of 39:44.4.
The women did not score as a team, but sophomore Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY) completed the 6k race in a time of 26:43.1, placing 88th out of 134 competitors. Freshman Janet Wong (Vancouver, Canada) finished with a time of 31:12.6.
"They all ran a gutsy race today and gave me all they had," said head coach Darryl Bullock. "Ed [Murray] just put together a great race. He's getting better every day of his senior season."
