NEWARK, Del. (May 15, 2017) – Mercy College softball junior Morgan Lloyd (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) has been named to the 2017 Division II Conference Commissioner Association (CCA) All-East Region First Team, while juniors Skania Lemus (Chula Vista, Calif./Southwestern CC) and Cassidy Wootten (Ardsley, N.Y./Monroe College) and freshman Destini Bullock (San Diego, Calif./Helix) were tabbed to the Second Team.
First Team honorees are automatically nominated for the D2CCA All-American voting process. The 2017 D2CCA Softball All-American Team will be announced on Wednesday, May 24.
Lloyd, who was named NFCA First Team All-East Region and ECC Co-Player of the Year, led the ECC in batting average throughout the season. The junior currently paces the ECC in batting average at .436 over 20 points higher than the runner-up. The outfielder is also second in the ECC in hits with 68, tying the single-season school record for hits in a season, and on base percentage .461. Lloyd is also third in the conference with 13 doubles and ranks in the top-10 in the ECC with 29 runs batted in and a .571 slugging percentage.
Lemus was also an NFCA First Team All-East Region selection and was named First Team All-ECC in her first year as a Maverick. The junior recorded 63 hits, 33 runs scored, 33 RBI, and five stolen bases. The second baseman ended the season with a .404 batting average and led the Mavericks with 104 total bases and in runs scored.
Wootten was a First Team All-ECC selection and batted .409 on the year, ranking second in the ECC behind Lloyd. The junior also had a team-best .709 slugging percentage and 14 doubles. The third baseman led the Mavericks with 34 RBI and was second on the team with eight home runs.
Bullock was a First Team All-ECC selection and batted .347 with 18 RBI and five home runs in 121 at bats. The freshman scored 22 runs and hit .371 with five home runs and 15 RBI in ECC action.
