Softball Named No. 5 Seed in First-Ever NCAA Tournament Appearance

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (May 8, 2017) – The NCAA Division II Softball Committee has selected the 64 teams that will participate in the 2017 NCAA Division II Softball Championship. Four teams will participate at each of the 16 regional sites in double-elimination tournaments, held May 11-13. The Mercy College softball team earned the No. 5 seed in the East Region, and will play No. 4 seed University of New Haven at 2:30 p.m. at Adelphi University in the four-team East 1 Regional featuring Adelphi (No. 1) and Wilmington (No. 8) beginning on Thursday.

The other half of the bracket, hosted by second-seeded Molloy College, features the Lions, NYIT (No. 7), Caldwell (No. 3) and Merrimack (No. 6). Winners will advance to the super regionals on May 18-19.

The appearance is the first-ever for the Mavericks and Mercy won a school-record 32 games, earning the program's first-ever ECC Championship.

Game 3: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2 -- 11 am

Game 6: Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 5 -- 12 pm
