Ausiello Earns NFCA All-East Region Second Team Honors

STARKVILLE, Miss. (May 11, 2012) - On Friday afternoon, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its All-Region squads and Mercy College senior Jenna Ausiello (Petaluma, Calif.) was selected for the All-East Region Second Team as a utility player after her incredible 2012 season.

Ausiello was recently named All-East Coast Conference First Team for the second straight year as she finished the 2012 campaign with a .424 batting average, which ranked her second in the ECC. Her on-base percentage of .489 and slugging percentage of .658 slotted her second and third, respectively. She led the league in doubles with 22, which were eight more than the next player. Her 67 hits tied for the conference-lead and set a new school record. Ausiello's 35 RBI were good for seventh amongst her ECC counterparts.

Other school records that the Petaluma native set this season include: the single season record for doubles (22), while she tied for the single season record-lead in runs scored (35). In school history, she ranks second in career batting average (.416) and first in career doubles (35). Ausiello led the 2012 Mavericks - the squad that set the new program record for wins in a season with 25 and doubles in a season with 70.

Nationally, Ausiello ranked fifth in all of Division II in the toughest-to-strikeout category. She was also seventh in the country with 0.44 doubles per game.

Ausiello received ECC Co-Player of the Week praise once this season and was named to the ECC Player of the Week Honor Roll twice.

Beginning in early June, Ausiello will be flying overseas to Germany where she will play professional softball for the Hamburg Knights.
