Anthony Adolino Named Assistant Softball Coach
Anthony Adolino was appointed as an assistant softball coach on Sept. 6, 2012 under Head Coach Mike Fazio. He will work on hitting skills with the varsity field players while being responsible for the daily operations of the inaugural junior varsity squad.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (May 11, 2012) - On Friday afternoon, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its All-Region squads and Mercy College senior Jenna Ausiello was selected for the All-East Region Second Team as a utility player after her incredible 2012 season.

Softball Earns Impressive Doubleheader Split with League-Leading Molloy
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 21, 2012) - On Saturday afternoon, the Mercy College softball team received an incredible pitching performance out of sophomore hurler Alexandra Puglisi as the Mavericks took Game 1 from the East Coast Conference-leading Molloy College Lions, 2-0. In the second contest, the Lions exacted their revenge by winning, 3-0. With the split, the Mavericks finished their 2012 season with a 25-26 overall record and a mark of 10-18 in the league.

Softball Earns Senior Day Split Against Felician; Majury Launches Three Home Runs
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 19, 2012) - On Thursday afternoon, the Mercy College softball team honored its two seniors, Jenna Ausiello and Rachel Poccia, for their contributions to the program over the past two seasons. In Game 1 of its doubleheader versus Felician College, the Mavericks fell, 12-6. In Game 2, Mercy played comeback as a five-run, bottom of the sixth inning erased its deficit and sent their fans home happy.

Softball Posts Two One-Hitters in Same Day; Defeats Nyack, 1-0, 3-0
NYACK, N.Y. (Apr. 18, 2012) - Sophomores Mary Sieber and Alexandra Puglisi of the Mercy College softball team, both threw one-hitters versus the Warriors of Nyack College on Wednesday. In Sieber's game, Mercy won 1-0, while in Puglisi's win, the Mavericks notched a 3-0 decision.

Softball Smacks Four Homers; Splits ECC Doubleheader with Queens
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 17, 2012) - On Tuesday afternoon, the Mercy College softball team took to Smith Field versus East Coast Conference-opponent Queens College, needing to sweep the doubleheader in order to keep its playoff hopes alive. After winning the first contest, 8-4, the Mavericks saw those postseason chances fade away as the Knights notched a 12-5 victory in Game 2.

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 14, 2012) - On Saturday, the Mercy College softball team earned an East Coast Conference doubleheader split with the University of Bridgeport to see its record change to 20-23 overall and 8-16 in conference play. The Mavericks won the first game, 4-2. In the second contest, the Purple Knights (14-25, 7-17 ECC) grabbed the victory in five innings, 11-3.

Softball Goes 1-1 in ECC Doubleheader with Queens
FLUSHING, N.Y. (Apr. 13, 2012) - On Friday afternoon in a make-up doubleheader from earlier in the season, the Mercy College softball team halved a doubleheader with East Coast Conference-opponent Queens College. The first game lasted nine innings and saw Mercy win 4-2, while Game #2 witnessed Queens win, 5-2. After today's action, the Mavericks' record overall is now 19-22 and 7-15 in the league, while the Knights move to 16-13 on the year and 9-12 in the ECC.

Softball Drops Epic Doubleheader with C.W. Post, Totaling 18 Innings
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 12, 2012) - On Thursday afternoon, the Mercy College softball team battled through a marathon of a doubleheader day, ultimately falling in both contests to East Coast Conference-rival C.W. Post. The first game, which took 13 innings to play, saw the Pioneers edge out the Mavericks, 5-4. In the second contest, C.W. Post won 8-0 after five innings.

Softball Splits ECC Twinbill with NYIT
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Apr. 10, 2012) - On Tuesday afternoon, the Mercy College softball team went 1-1 in a doubleheader versus East Coast Conference-opponent New York Institute of Technology. In the opening game, the Bears won in walkoff fashion, 3-2, while the Mavericks took game two, 8-1. The Mavericks are now 18-19 overall and 6-12 in the league. The Bears are now 8-24 on the season and 4-13 in the ECC.

SPARKILL, N.Y. (Apr. 7, 2012) - The Mercy College softball team ventured to Sparkill, N.Y. on Saturday to take on East Coast Conference-opponent St. Thomas Aquinas College in a doubleheader. The Spartans took the opening contest in extra innings, 4-3, and then won the second, 4-2. With the wins, STAC improved to 6-20 overall and 2-14 in the league. Following the defeats, the Mavericks fell to 17-18 on the season and 5-11 in the ECC.

In the first contest, sophomore starter Alexandra Puglisi hurled a no-hitter en route to her ninth win of the year.

Softball Scheduling Changes For This Weekend
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Mar. 31, 2012) - The softball doubleheader scheduled for today between Mercy College and Queens College has been postponed to Friday, April 13 due to inclement weather. Tomorrow's twinbill featuring Mercy and St. Thomas Aquinas College will still be played beginning at 1:00 p.m., but due to poor field conditions at STAC, the pair of contests will be played at Smith Field on Mercy's campus in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Mar. 29, 2012) – On Thursday afternoon, the Mercy College softball team dropped the first game of its doubleheader with the University of Bridgeport, 4-3 in nine innings. The Mavericks came back in Game 2 to pounce on the Purple Knights, 14-3. Following the twinbill, the Purple Knights’ record changed to 10-13 overall and 4-6 in the league, while the Mavericks’ changed to 13-12 on the year and 3-5 in conference play.

Marc Della Volpe Named Assistant Softball Coach
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Jan. 25, 2012) – Mercy College head softball coach Mike Fazio announced today the hiring of Marc J. Della Volpe as an assistant softball coach for the spring 2012 season. Della Volpe will work with the pitchers and outfielders while also being responsible for camp and clinic operations as well as assisting in recruiting.
