Mercy's Chelsea Methot Earns ECC Softball Player of the Week

Senior Chelsea Methot had 12 hits in 17 at bats last week for the Mercy College softball program en route to earning East Coast Conference Player of the Week honors. The Conference announced the weekly award today.  Methot is the first Maverick (6-7) to earn conference kudos this season.

A centerfielder from Bristol, Conn., Methot hit .706 with a 1.471 slugging percentage on the week, as Mercy went 4-2 on the week. Five of her 12 hits went for extra bases, including four home runs. She drove in 12 runs, and scored four times.

Methot played in only five games, and had at least two base hits in each contest.

In a doubleheader split with Post University, she had five hits in seven at bats, including three homeruns. In the first game of a double dip at Holy Family, she had three hits in four plate appearances, with seven RBI and a homerun.

A year ago, she earned Second-Team All-ECC.
