Mercy Softball Team Holding Tryouts on September 8 & 9

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Mercy College women's softball team will be holding walk-on tryouts for interested female students during the first week of classes on the Dobbs Ferry Campus. To be eligible to tryout, students must be enrolled at Mercy College for the 2011 fall semester as a full time student and must be taking a minimum of 12 credits.

Experience playing fast pitch softball at the high school varsity level, travel ball, or in other high level programs is strongly recommended. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required for freshmen. All upperclassmen will be required to meet the minimum GPA requirements established by the team to participate in the 2012 season.

In addition, prior to participation in a tryout, a prospective student-athlete is required to demonstrate that she has undergone a medical examination or evaluation administered or supervised by a physician (i.e.: family physician, team physician). The examination or evaluation must have been administered within six months prior to participation in the tryout.
 
PRIOR to the dates of the tryout, any candidate MUST provide a copy of her medical insurance card to the Head Athletic Trainer, Meredith Pope. If a copy of the insurance card does not exist on file in the trainers' office, that candidate will not be permitted to try out.

In addition, successful candidates will be required to register with the NCAA eligibility center at www.NCAA.org and meet all eligibility requirements before being allowed to participate as a member of the Mercy College NCAA Division II softball team. 

Tryout Dates: Thursday, September 8, 2011 and Friday, September 9, 2011
Time: 4:30 PM (on September 8) and 3:30 PM (on September 9)
Location: Smith Field (Dobbs Ferry campus between Main Hall and Our Lady of Victory)
