The Mercy College softball team dropped both ends of a
doubleheader
this afternoon to Queens College, losing 7-0 and 7-3.
In game one, Queens (6-9, 2-2 East Coast Conference) scored five runs in the bottom of the first. Shanna Hicks (Marlboro, N.Y./SUNY New Paltz) lasted just two-thirds of the inning, giving up five runs on four hits. She faced just seven batters. But Queens earned the runs right back, scoring three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The Knights would get four more in the bottom of the fourth, for the 7-3 final. Alex Oakes (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland) suffered the loss, hurling just 2.1 innings.
