Mercy's Catherine Kowalski Named ECC Softball Rookie of the Week

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Freshman shortstop Catherine Kowalski (Melville, NY) was named East Coast Conference (ECC) Softball Rookie of the Week on Monday.

For the week, Kowalski hit .462 with one home run and two RBI. She also scored twice and led the team with a .692 slugging percentage.

In the second game of the doubleheader against Dowling, she went 2-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored. Kowalski went 2-for-3 with a home run in the second game against Molloy. She hit safely in every game last week.

This season Kowalski has 13 hits with two doubles and two home runs. She has scored eight runs and knocked in five runners. Kowalski has also played a steady shortstop for the Mavericks.

Mercy is 6-9 overall and 2-2 in ECC action. The Mavericks will host a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 1 against Queens College beginning at 3 p.m.
