Mercy's Methot Earns ECC Rookie of the Week Honors

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College freshman outfielder Chelsea Methot (Bristol, CT) has been named East Coast Conference (ECC) Softball Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday.

Methot led the Mavericks in all major batting statistics with a .550 average, two home runs, five RBI, 11 hits and seven runs scored. Methot has hit safely in her first seven collegiate games with a .850 slugging percentage, .609 on base percentage and stole a base.

She smacked her first home run of the year against Georgian Court (3/12) and finished the day 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Methot collected three hits, two RBI, and scored a run on her second home run of the season versus Slippery Rock (3/14). In the second game of a doubleheader against Slippery Rock, she scored two more runs on two base hits. Mercy has scored 28 runs this season and Methot is responsible for 12 of those (driving in or scoring).

The Mavericks are 2-5 this season and are playing a doubleheader against Centenary College in Cocoa Beach, FL on Monday.
