Mercy College Softball Falls to Dowling, 14-0 and 12-0

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Mercy College softball team was defeated by Dowling on Wednesday, April 25, by scores of 14-0 and 12-0. The Flyers are 0-16 overall and in East Coast Conference (ECC) play, while the Golden Lions improved to 29-14 overall and 16-2 in the conference.
Sophomore catcher Jessica Davidson (Valhalla, NY) recorded two hits in the doubleheader. Junior centerfielder Jamie DeJesus (Sleepy Hollow, NY) and senior third baseman Lindsay Levassuer (Vancouver, Canada) each had one hit.
The Golden Lions recorded three runs in the first inning and added five more in the following inning, to go up 8-0, in the second contest. In the third and fourth innings Dowling tacked on two runs in each inning. Freshman pitcher Samantha LaBella (Mamaroneck, NY), pitched the second game for the Flyers. Dowling's Jacqueline Lucido earned the win, recording five strikeouts. The contest was called after four innings due to rain.
The Flyers will be back in action on Saturday, April 28, when they host ECC opponent NYIT in their final home contest of the season. The first pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m.
