Mercy's Mehdi Rhazali Named ECC Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College freshman Mehdi Rhazali (Rabat, Morocco) was named East Coast Conference Men's Tennis (ECC) Rookie of the Week on Monday.

Rhazali posted a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Jeff Boyce at No. 2 singles in Saturday's 9-0 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. He also teamed up with Yusufcan Koksal at No. 1 doubles for an 8-2 victory versus Tony Tello and Ryan Maher.

The Mavericks, who are ranked No. 29 in the nation, are currently on a three-match southern road trip and will play some of the best programs in the country. They will face No. 14 Florida Southern on Monday, No. 9 Rollins on Tuesday, and last year's NCAA Division II Champion Lynn (currently ranked No. 3) on Wednesday.
