DOBBS FERRY, NY -  The Mercy College athletics department announced that the men's tennis team will play host to Queens College at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Thursday, April 12.  This key East Coast Conference (ECC) match will begin at 3:00 p.m.

Mercy was picked third in the ECC preseason coaches poll, just two points behind Concordia (31 points) and one behind Queens (30 points).  The Flyers are No. 40 in the first FILA/ITA National rankings of the spring, and No. 2 in the East Region. Mercy got off to a solid start to the 2007 season by capturing a pair of singles titles at the ECC Flight Championships on Sunday, February 25.

Home of the U.S. Open and Arthur Ashe Stadium, the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is located across from Shea Stadium in Flushing, NY.  It is the largest public tennis facility in the world and also serves as host to other prestigious events such as the Women's College Tennis Invitational, the Jana Hunsaker Memorial Eastern Wheelchair Championships, the USTA National Open Indoor Championships, the "Turn Back The Clock" (wood racquets only) tournament and other USTA Eastern sectional tournaments for juniors, adults and seniors.

"We are all very excited about having the opportunity to compete at one of the world's most famous facilities," said Mercy head coach Barbaros Ozdogan. "This will be a great experience for our student-athletes and for fans of Mercy College men's tennis."

Next up for Mercy is a trip to Wilson, NC, for the North South Duals, hosted by Barton College from March 23-25.
