No. 36 Mercy College Men's Tennis Downs Queens 5-1, in NCAA Tournament First Round
KUTZTOWN, PA - The Mercy College men's tennis team, ranked No. 36 in the nation and seeded third, opened up NCAA Tournament first round play with a 5-1 victory over sixth-seeded Queens College on Thursday, May 3.
Mercy (10-3) first took two out of three points in doubles play. Timon Prosper and Yusufcan Koksal teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 2, while Alican Seren and Zeki Tukel combined for an 8-2 victory at No. 3.
The Flyers then cruised to three singles wins, beginning with a 6-0, 6-0 victory by Prosper at No. 6. Tukel followed with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 2, and Seren sealed the decision with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3
Mercy will take on No. 2 seed and host Kutztown on Friday, May 4, at 1:00 p.m. in the second round. The winner of that match will advance to the round of 16.
