Mercy's Alican Seren Named to All-ECC First Team
DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College men's tennis player Alican Seren (Istanbul, Turkey) was selected to the All-East Coast Conference (ECC) First Team in a vote of conference coaches that was announced just prior to the start of the ECC's team championship tournament.
Seren a 5-foot-9 junior, helped the 37th-ranked Flyers to an 8-2 regular season record and a 4-1 mark in league play to finish second. He currently carries a 13-3 record in singles play, competing primarily at the No. 3 flight. Seren has also posted a 10-2 mark in doubles action.
Mercy defeated Dowling 5-3 in the semifinals of the ECC Tournament on Friday, before falling to 16th-ranked Concordia by a score of 5-0 in the championship match on Saturday. The Flyers will now await the announcement of at large bid selections to the NCAA Tournament.
