Mercy College Men's Tennis Moves Up to No. 37 in National Rankings; Flyers Come in at No. 3 in East Region
DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College men's tennis team is ranked No. 37 in the latest FILA Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Rankings, moving up three spots from the previous poll. The Flyers are also ranked No. 3 in the East Region. Three members of the squad, Vyacheslav Glebov (Krasnoyarsk, Russia), Alican Seren (Istanbul, Turkey), and Yusufcan Koksal (Ankara, Turkey) have also earned regional rankings.
Glebov comes in at No.5 in the East region for his singles play. Glebov is currently 7-4 on the year, playing at both the No. 1 and 2 spots. He is coming off a 9-7 victory at Adelphi on Wednesday.
Seren is ranked No. 9 in the East Region with a 9-2 singles record. He has played in the No. 2, 3, and 4 spots this spring, and is coming off a 6-1, 6-2 win at Adelphi.
Koksal is tied for No. 15 in the East region. He is 2-3 in singles play, recently competing at No. 1. He knocked off Tomasz Walczak at Adelphi in a hard fought battle, 6-3, 5-7, 10-4. Koksal and Glebov are also ranked No. 7 in the region in doubles play.
Mercy is off to a 5-2 start this spring, posting a win over No. 33 Limestone at the North South Duals in March. Most recently, the Flyers posted a 9-0 shutout of East Coast Conference (ECC) foe Adelphi. They will return to action on Tuesday, April 10, versus Dowling in a match to be played at Stony Brook beginning at 3:00 p.m.
