DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College senior Hans Peter Gartner (Vienna, Austria) and freshman Vyacheslav Glebov (Krasnoyarsk, Siberia) received New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) men's tennis weekly honors for matches played between Monday, April 10, and Sunday, April 16. Gartner was named Co-Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Wojciech Stuchlik of Queens, and Glebov claimed his second consecutive Rookie of the Week award.
Gartner came up big for Mercy in its win over Concordia, knocking off Rodrigo Teixeira, ranked No. 47 in the nation, in three sets. After falling 3-6 in the opener, he bounced back to take the next two sets, 6-2 and 6-4. Gartner also teamed up with Yusufcan Koksal (Ankara, Turkey) for a win at No. 2 doubles vs. Concordia, 8-4.
