Flyers Stretch Streak to Four Straight with 7-2 Victory Over Caldwell
CALDWELL, NJ - The Mercy College men's tennis team, currently ranked No. 5 in the Fila Northeast regional rankings, won its fourth straight match, defeating host Caldwell by a score of 7-2 on Wednesday, April 12. The Flyers improved their overall record to 9-1, while Caldwell fell to 2-5 on the year.
The tandems of Carl Johnson and Vyacheslav Glebov, and Timon Prosper and Yusufcan Koksal both won in doubles action. Johnson and Glebov won their 10th consecutive match together by a score of 8-2, at No. 1. Prosper and Koksal prevailed at No. 2, with an 8-4 triumph.
Glebov rolled to a 6-4, 6-2, victory at No. 1 singles and Johnson cruised to a 6-2, 6-2, win at No. 2. Koksal and Prosper both posted straight set shutouts of 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Dennis James notched Mercy's other singles point with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 5.
Mercy returns to action, on Friday, April 14, with a home match versus NYCAC opponent Concordia. The contest is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Westchester Community College's Valhalla campus.
