Mercy College Men's Tennis Downs Millersville, 7-2
E. STROUDSBURG, PA - The Mercy College men's tennis team, currently ranked No. 5 in the Fila Northeast regional rankings, defeated Millersville University by a score of 7-2, on Friday, April 7. The Flyers improved their overall record to 7-1, while Millersville, the No. 8 team in the region, fell to 3-1.
Mercy took two out of three tight doubles matches to open up. The pair of Carl Johnson and Vyacheslav Glebov defeated Greg Bennett and Clifford Boyd at No. 1, by a score of 8-6. Timon Prosper and Yusufcan Koksal also teamed up for a 9-7 victory at No. 2, over Brandon Kessler and Chris Paolini.
The Flyers won five of six singles matches, four of them in straight sets. Glebov knocked off Bennett, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1, and Johnson rolled past Boyd at No. 2, 6-2, 6-2. Koksal posted a 7-5, 7-6, triumph at No. 3, over Paolini and Prosper defeated Kessler 6-3, 6-3, at No. 4. Pavol Vasko closed it out with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-3, victory at No. 5 singles versus Christopher Matisse.
Mercy returns to action on Sunday, April 9, with a noon start at Philadelphia University. Match Details
