Mercy Men's Tennis Take Bentley and Bryant, 7-2, in Non-Conference Matches
DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College men's tennis team, currently ranked No. 7 in the Fila Northeast regional rankings, won a pair of non-conference matches on Monday, March 27. Mercy defeated both Bentley and Bryant on the road by identical scores of 7-2. The Flyers remain undefeated with a 4-0 record this spring.
Mercy swept the doubles segment against Bentley, winning 8-2, 8-5 and 8-3, respectively. Vyacheslav Glebov gave the Flyers a point with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Carl Johnson had a hard fought 7-5 win in the first set at No. 2 singles before cruising to a 6-1 win in the second set. Yusufcan Koksal then breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles and Tim Prosper nearly pitched a shutout with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 5 singles.
The Flyers got a pair of points in doubles play versus Bryant as the duo of Glebov and Johnson took an 8-2 decision at the top spot, while Koksal and Prosper paired for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
Glebov battled for a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles and Johnson posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2. Koksal fought to a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles and Prosper rolled for another point at No. 4, 6-1, 6-2, while James won at No. 5, 7-5, 6-2.
Mercy is back in action again on Wednesday, March 29, at home
versus Adelphi. The match will be held at Westchester
Community College's Valhalla campus, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
