WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Sept. 5, 2017) – Mercy College men's soccer sophomore Maximiliano Rebolledo-Camus (Santiago, Chile/Saint George's College) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) men's soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Week One, while senior Kwantarian Van der Lara (Stockholm, Sweden/Marshalltown CC) was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
Rebolledo-Camus recorded a hat-trick for the first time in his career in the Mavericks 4-0 win over Chestnut Hill on Saturday. The sophomore ended the week with three goals, six points and five shots on goal.
Van der Lara had a strong week in net for the Mavericks, posting a shutout in Mercy's 4-0 win over Chestnut Hill on Saturday. The senior made four saves in the win, which followed a seven-save performance in the Mavericks season opener at Southern Connecticut State on Thursday. Van der Lara ended the week with a .917 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average.
The awards are the first garnered by both this season.
Head Coach Pedro Velazquez and the Mavericks resume action on Thursday, September 7th when they play at Assumption College at 7 p.m.
