Men’s Soccer Moves Up to Ninth in NSCAA East Region

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2011) – The Mercy College men's soccer team moved up one place in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America East Region rankings to reclaim the No. 9 spot. This marks the third consecutive week in which Mercy has been ranked regionally.

The Mavericks had fallen into a tie for 10th place due to inactivity last week.  They defeated the University of the District of Columbia, 3-0, early this week to vault past NYIT (previously No. 6) in the rankings despite losing by a score of 3-2 to undefeated St. Thomas Aquinas College (now ranked No. 17 in the nation).  Mercy is now the third-highest ranked team in the East Coast Conference.

Junior forward William Koki (Aurora, Colo.) leads the Mavericks with seven goals, including a hat trick against UDC which helped to earn him ECC Player of the Week Honor Roll accolades, becoming the second member of the men's soccer team to be recognized this season.
