Trio of Men's Soccer Student-Athletes Make All-ECC

The East Coast Conference has named the All-Conference teams for men's soccer, and three Mercy College student-athletes were named to the second team: midfielders Moustapha Dioum (Harlem, N.Y./Monroe CC) and Collin Legge (Schodack, N.Y./Maple Hill), and defenseman Ben Latchford (Solihull, England/Sacred Heart College).

Dioum, a sophomore, was integral in Mercy's defense this season.  His solid play was a large factor in Mercy being ranked fourth in the ECC in both goals allowed (24) and goals against average (1.32).

In addition to leading Mercy in all point categories, Legge made the ECC ranks with his five goals tying him for tenth, his five assists tying him for fourth, and his 15 points tying him for seventh.  The junior was also third in shots and shots on goal for the team, with 33 and 15, respectively.

Latchford, a junior, not only contributed three points (one goal, one assist) to Mercy this season, but served as a leader and Captain to the Mavericks, both on and off the field.

Under the tutelage of first year head coach Chris Smith, the Mavericks played to a 6-7-4 overall record this season, doubling their win total from last season.  Mercy also improved their number of goals scored from 18 to 27, as well as cut their goals allowed from 42 to 24.
