Walsh Tabbed ECC Defensive Player Of The Week

Sophomore goalkeeper leads Mercy to shutout victory against Concordia.

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – On Monday, Mercy College’s men’s soccer sophomore goalkeeper Martin Walsh (Dublin, Ireland) was named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week by officials from the ECC for his 1-0 shutout performance against Concordia on Sept. 9.

Walsh stopped three Concordia shots while allowing no goals in the Mavericks first win of the season. The shutout was the sophomore’s first of the season.

Mercy is 1-2 on the season.

After a quiet weekend, the Mavericks will be backing action on Tuesday, Sept. 15 for a road contest at Nyack College in Nyack, N.Y. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
