Mavericks Men's Soccer Slip Past Concordia 1-0

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Mercy College men's soccer team made it a two-win day for the Mavericks as they followed the women's 5-1 win over Maritime with a 1-0 victory over the Concordia Clippers Tuesday evening at Mercy College Field. The win was the Mavericks first win of the season as they advance their record to 1-2 on the season.
With the loss, Concordia falls to 0-4.
Scoreless for most of the game, Maverick sophomore forward Ben Lachford (Solihull, England) got a foot on the ball as Concordia scored on their own net to score the lone goal of the contest in the 63rd minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Martin Walsh (Dublin, Ireland) had a solid game in the net for Mercy with three saves.
The Mavericks dominated the Clippers in shots, 18-8.
Mercy men's soccer is back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 15 as the Mavericks travel to Nyack, N.Y. for a 4 p.m. match up against the Warriors on Moseley Field.
