Michael Frimpong-Manso, Nizar Chahbani, and Norton Carnegie Earn All-ECC Honors for Mercy College Men's Soccer

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Three members of the Mercy College men's soccer team have been named All-East Coast Conference (ECC), the league announced on Saturday.  Michael Frimpong-Manso (Accra, Ghana) was named to the First Team, while Nizar Chahbani (Menzel Bourguiba, Tunisia) earned Second Team honors, and Norton Carnegie (Kingston, Jamaica) earned a spot on the Third Team.

A junior forward, Frimpong-Manso led Mercy with 22 points on nine goals and four assists.  His 1.47 points per game ranks first in the ECC. Frimpong-Manso scored in eight different games, including the game-winner at Felician.  He also assisted on the game-winner versus Goldey Beacom. The 2005 conference Rookie of the Year, Frimpong-Manso will enter the 2008 season tied for eighth all-time at Mercy with 21 career goals, and tied for ninth with 50 career points.

Chahbani, a senior forward, was second on the squad with 18 points on seven goals and four assists. He registered three game-winners, all in ECC play, and assisted on another decisive goal. Chahbani registered all seven of his goals against conference opponents as he led all players with 17 points in ECC play. He was also recently selected to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team and was named ECC Offensive Player of the Week on October 8.

A senior, Carnegie directed the squad from the midfield this year after earning All-ECC First Team and All-Northeast Region Second Team honors as a defender last year.  This season he chipped in one goal and three assists on offense for a career-high five points. His goal against Goldey Beacom would prove to be the game-winner.

Mercy finished the year with a 7-7-3 overall record and a 4-4-1 mark in ECC play to finish fourth and earn a spot in the ECC Tournament.  Interim Head Coach Nick Bell will return 15 letterwinners from this year's squad in 2008, including seven starters.
