DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -  The Mercy College men's soccer team is ranked No. 6 in this week's NSCAA/adidas Northeast regional poll.  The regional and national rankings were announced on Tuesday.

The Mavericks suffered a pair of 3-2 overtime defeats on the road last week, falling to NYIT, ranked No. 22 in the nation at the time, in double overtime on Wednesday, and C.W. Post in the first extra period on Saturday.

Seniors Michael Frimpong-Manso (Accra, Ghana) and Nizar Chahbani (Menzel Bourguiba, Tunisia) continue to lead the offense.  Frimpong-Manso has scored 20 points on a team-best eight goals and four assists, while Chahbani has netted seven goals and assisted on four to give him 18 points. Freshman Raldino Powell (Bronx, NY) and sophomore Roger Rennis (Kingston, Jamaica) have contributed four goals each. Freshman Mike Fernandes (Mt. Vernon, NY) leads the squad with five assists.

Mercy will look to rebound this week, first traveling to Dowling on Wednesday.  The Golden Lions are currently ranked No. 7 in the nation and No. 1 in the region.  The Mavericks will then close out the regular season with their final home game on Thursday versus Palm Beach Atlantic.
