Mercy's Nizar Chahbani Named ECC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Mercy College senior men's soccer player Nizar Chahbani (Menzel Bourguiba, Tunisia) has been selected as the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baden Offensive Player of the Week. The league announced its weekly award winners on Monday.
A 5-foot-10 midfielder/forward, Chabani notched three goals, including two eventual game-winners, and assisted on two others for a total of eight points in a 2-0 week. In a 3-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas, he netted the first goal and assisted on the third. He added two goals including the eventual game winner and added an assist against Concordia in a 4-3 win.
On the year, Chabani has recorded 11 points on four goals and three assists. He has three of Mercy's five game winning goals.
Mercy is 5-2-2 overall and tied for second in the ECC at 3-1. The Mavericks will return to action on Wednesday, October 10, at Queens, and then host Bridgeport on Saturday, October 13, beginning at Noon.
