NEW CASTLE, DE - The Mercy College men's soccer team fell by a score of 2-0 at Wilmington in non-conference action on Saturday. The Mavericks are now 1-1-2 on the year, while Wilmington improved to 4-3-0.
Sophomore forward Sargbah Tarpeh got Wilmington on the scoreboard just over four minutes into the contest. Tarpeh one-timed a feed from sophomore midfielder Fatoma Turay for what would be the game-winner.
Wilmington added an insurance goal during the 85th minute, when junior midfielder Probyn Allen sent a cross toward goal that Tarpeh was able to convert into his second tally of the contest.
Sophomore goalkeeper Carl Spence (St. Catherine, Jamaica) made five saves for Mercy, while senior Dan Mangat recorded five stops for Wilmington. The Wildcats out-shot the Mavericks by a 15-5 margin, and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Mercy returns to action on Monday, September 17, at Felician in another non-conference match beginning at 2:30 p.m
