Mercy Men's Soccer Ranked No. 7 in Final Regular Season Northeast Regional Poll
DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College men's soccer team is ranked No. 7 in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Northeast Regional Poll of the regular season. The Flyers spent four out of nine weeks, including the last two, at the No. 7 spot, their highest of the year.
Mercy finished the year with a 6-5-3 overall record and a 3-2-3 mark in East Coast Conference (ECC) play, good for fifth place in the league standings. The Flyers closed out the year by going 2-0-2 in their last four outings, playing to a scoreless tie with C.W. Post, ranked No. 20 in the nation at the time, in their season finale on Monday, October 23.
Three members of the squad were named All-ECC earlier this week. Junior defender Norton Carnegie (Kingston, Jamaica) was named to the First Team, while senior midfielder Alexandre Augusto (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) earned Second Team honors, and junior midfielder Nizar Chahbani (Menzel Bourguiba, Tunisia) earned a spot on the Third Team.
Head Coach Chris Gonzalez will return 13 letterwinners from this year's squad in 2007, including nine starters.
