Mercy College Men's Soccer Ranked No. 7 in NSCAA Northeast Regional Poll

            DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College men's soccer team is ranked No. 7 in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Northeast Regional Poll, jumping up one spot from last week and equaling its highest ranking of the 2006 season.

Mercy finished the year with a 6-5-3 overall record and a 3-2-3 mark in East Coast Conference (ECC) play, good for fifth place in the league standings.  The Flyers closed out the year by going 2-0-2 in their last four outings, playing to a scoreless tie with C.W. Post, ranked No. 20 in the nation, in their season finale on Monday, October 23.

Junior midfielder Nizar Chahbani (Menzel Bourguiba, Tunisia) led the team in points with 10, scoring three goals and registering a team high four assists.  Senior midfielder Alexandre Augusto (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) closed out his career with nine points on a team best four goals and one assist.  Sophomore forward Quaison Carter (Teaneck, NJ) finished his first season with the Flyers by tallying eight points on three goals and one assist.  Freshman goalkeeper Carl Spence (St. Catherine, Jamaica) earned the starting spot early in the season and went on to post a 1.10 goals against average in just under 1000 minutes, with a save percentage of .824 and one shutout.

Head Coach Chris Gonzalez will return 13 letterwinners from this year's squad in 2007, including nine starters.
