Mercy's Carl Spence Tabbed ECC Rookie of the Week

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College freshman goalkeeper Carl Spence (St. Catherine, Jamaica) has been named East Coast Conference (ECC) Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week.  It is the first weekly honor of his career.

Spence allowed only two goals in 200 minutes, earning one win and one tie for Mercy. In Tuesday's

1-1 draw with New Haven, Spence stopped three shots. He followed up with six saves in Thursday's 2-1 victory at Post University, with the lone goal coming on a penalty kick with just 10 seconds left.

On the year, Spence carries a 1.24 goals against average, making 51 saves, while yielding only 12 goals in 11 appearances for an .810 save percentage.

Mercy will close out the ECC regular season on Monday, October 23, at home versus C.W. Post, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
