Mercy Men's Soccer Holds at No. 7 in NSCAA Northeast Regional Poll

DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College men's soccer team is ranked No. 7 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Northeast Regional Poll. It marks the second straight week at No. 7, after coming in at No. 9 for the two previous weeks.

Mercy (4-3-0, 2-1-0 ECC) split a pair of East Coast Conference (ECC) games last week, defeating Molloy 2-1 in double overtime on the road on Wednesday, before getting edged 1-0 on Saturday by Dowling, now the No. 3 team in the nation.

Trailing 1-0 with just 3:18 to go in regulation at Molloy, senior defender Norton Carnegie (Kingston, Jamaica) scored the equalizer, and sophomore forward Quaison Carter (Teaneck, NJ) netted the game-winner in the second extra frame.  Against Dowling, the lone goal was scored on a direct kick from just outside the top of the box in the first half. Freshman goalkeeper Carl Spence (St. Catherine, Jamaica) made five saves in the contest. Spence has been solid in net, allowing only two goals in 293 minutes for a 0.61 goals against average.

Mercy will play a pair of ECC games on the road this week, traveling to Concordia on Tuesday and Bridgeport on Saturday.
